Exploring the Local Park and Swamp

Today, we explored nature in our neighborhood.

The Dismal Swamp is a something like 650 acre wetland. Pretty rustic. Spotted poison ivy right at the start, didn’t go too far on the path since it was pretty overgrown and didn’t want to trounce around in the poison ivy with my sandals.

Roosevelt Park – a public works project from the WPA – I pass through here at least once per week on the service roads. Today was the first time we stopped to walk around. Some beautiful areas just in the little bit we saw.
